WCR - Tune in and drop in Take a good look in the mirror, and ask yourself thise question, "Do I have the face for radio?" If the answer is (alas) yes, then Wolverhampton Campus Radio wants to hear from you. WCR1350 is YOUR radio station. Based near the Molinuex, it's run mainly by volunteers, plays new and alternative music and broadcasts to the college on medium wave at www.wcr1350.co.uk Daytime shows follow WCR's music policy of indie and alternative music, along with some lively chat, current affairs and entertainment news. But, don't just listen - get involved, because WCR's main purpose as a training ground for budding presenters, journalists, producers, engineers and technicians. Some volunteers even go on to become professional broadcasters. Ex-volunteer Asante, who fronted the RnB show on WCR, is now a producer at Radio One's sister station 1xtra, in London. "The experience I got at WCR was invaluable. Before I'd just been working on pirate stations. WCR helped me put together a totally professional demo and I wouldn't have got the job a 1xtra without it." He says. So, if you think you could out fox Coxy (which, let's face it, wouldn't be hard), or be zanier than Zane Lowe, why not get involved? The station and training centre is based at the Newhampton Centre, just off Newhampton East Road. Give Martyn Haynes a call on 01902 572260 or you can email wcr@wcr1350.co.uk.
