Former Sandwell Student's New York Exhibition

Kate Beatty , 22 from Selly Oak, has produced an exhibition of work taken in and around New York City, entitled "Portraits of New Yorkers".

The exhibition will be on show at Sandwell College's West Bromwich Campus for a month from September 11th, 2002.

Kate, who is a former Fuji Film prizewinner finished her HND Photography at Sandwell College last year and is now studying for a degree at UCE.

She decided to under take this project, as she was interested in finding out how people were recovering in New York. Kate commented, "I am very interested in pursuing a career in documentary photography and thought it would be a big challenge."

Kate set out to discover what New Yorkers were facing 6 months after the terrorist attacks of 11th September 2001. This exhibition of photographs shows a cross section of the citizens of New York. Each portrait captures the characters of the individual sitters in a unique environment.

The exhibition in the Gallery Corridor, Photo Imaging Department, The Basement in the Main Building, West Bromwich Campus.
