College radio station goes global Listeners around the world can now tune in to the City of Wolverhampton College¹s student radio station. This is thanks to funding from the Learning and Skills Council, which has enabled Wolverhampton Campus Radio to be accessed live through the internet. The cash was made available through the college¹s designation, in partnership with Sandwell College, as a Centre of Vocational Excellence for media industries. This accolade will see training provided in journalism, sound engineering, music technology, moving image and photography, plus video, radio, music and TV production. Director of media Pete Whitehouse said: "Students from Wolverhampton and Sandwell will be using the radio station to make programmes that include music produced at both campuses. "This is a major initiative that will give students the opportunity to connect with the media and music in the Black County and beyond." Wolverhampton Campus Radio, which is based at the Newhampton Centre, can now be accessed via www.wcr1350.co.uk. It broadcasts a mix of music, news, features and information to the Wulfrun Campus on 1350kh AM. |
