A senior member of staff at the
BBC has visited Media Students at City of Wolverhampton’s
Paget Road Campus to talk about his life and work at Midlands Today.
Toby Horwood has been with the BBC since 1982
and in that time he has worked as a cameraman, film editor,
sound engineer and studio manager. He can also be found out
on the road in all weathers, working on the programme’s
satellite outside broadcast vehicle, beaming back live reports
for the nightly 30-minute regional news round-up.
Students were treated to a film of “A Day in
the Life” of Midlands Today and learned some
useful hints and tips for operating a VX2000 camera.
“It was a really interesting talk I learned a
lot. Toby was very helpful and friendly,” commented
2nd Year National Diploma Media student Chris Shein.
