Band Signs Record Deal

Wolverhampton Band The Priory - hoping to make a big breakthroughA Wolverhampton band is heading for the big time after being discovered on a city community radio show and landing a record contract.

The four members of The Priory, from Park Village, are preparing to release an album and go on a national tour.

Their fame soared after appearing on Wolverhampton Community Radio's Naked Ambition programme for unsigned talent.

Producer and joint presenter Rob Dentith said it was a showcase for the vibrant music scene across the West Midlands and bands as yet undiscovered by the mainstream music industry.

Singer-songwriter Ashley Bradley, of Parkfields, drummer and programmer Ryan Pinson, of Bushbury, keyboard player John Nash, of Wednesfield, and guitarist Ryan Deakin, of Coseley, make up the band.

"Although the programme exists as an elaborate hobby at the moment, this has been a professional project," said Mr Dentith about his show. "I was awarded a two-month contract by Virgin radio to produce the show during their application for the West Midlands licence that Kerrang have been awarded."

The show goes out on Sundays between 2.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. on 1350 MW at WCR1350.co.uk.
