| Media Employers meet at SP/ARK
As with previous sessions, the event was chaired by BBC broadcaster and trainer Lawrie Bloomfield MBE. Over 30 media and creative professionals from across the West Midlands got together for this event. The evening started with an update on recent MediaCoVE activities and was followed by a presentation about SP/ARK by Marketing Manager Marina Ibrahim. Emerging SP/ARK based companies, Calloway Green Ltd, Nexus Digital Vision Ltd and Debut then gave short presentations, showcasing their creative talents and highlighting how they have benefited from the SP/ARK support. The evening concluded with a plenary discussion chaired by Lawrie Bloomfield, followed by a networking opportunity with drinks and a buffet. Kim Gilmour, Wolverhampton Telford Technology Corridor said: “This forum is a great way of bringing companies together from the creative industries sector, this is a growing sector with plenty of opportunities for business growth and new businesses which can be supported through centres like SP/ARK.” SP/ARK provides facilities, accommodation, training and mentoring for business starters and freelancers in new media and design and is equipped for specialists in multimedia, graphics, video and sound design, 2D and 3D animation, textile and interior design, screening, projection and presentation design. SP/ARK is a Wolverhampton Telford Technology Corridor project funded by Advantage West Midlands, the European Regional Development Fund and Wolverhampton Science Park Ltd. The MediaCoVE Employers’ Forum was set up as part of the Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) for media, music and journalism and is a project led by the City of Wolverhampton College.
