WOLVERHAMPTON CREATIVE INDUSTRIES FORUM Read full report in PDF format The Wolverhampton Creative Industries Forum was established following the completion of the Wolverhampton Creative Industries Strategy, which was commissoned by the Wolverhampton Partnership and funded by Advantage West Midlands, in April 2004. The Forum brings together agencies and organisations from across the City who are working together to promote new industries and employment in the creative industries sector. At present the membership includes the City Council, University of Wolverhampton, Lighthouse Media Centre, Wolverhampton Science Park, City of Wolverhampton College, and Business Link. The Forum was established as a champion and formal body representing the interests and needs of the creative industries .Its purpose is to coordinate actions and funding bids to support the development of the sector. The Forum has a strategy which will build Wolverhampton as a creative City where people want to live and work, generating wealth through new, sustainable, creative businesses and developing skills and learning opportunities, encompassing all cultures to the benefit of all communities. This is the vision for the Creative Industries Strategy. An implementation plan has been drawn up to help achieve this vision.The Plan has 8 main objectives: Improve the image and profile of Wolverhampton as a creative City Enable networking amongst the Citys creative industries. Establish Wolverhampton as a regional and national centre of excellence in animation and related digital media. Grow the base of creative industries businesses and freelancers in Wolverhampton by encouraging new starts and supporting existing buisinesses. Improve multi-skilling amongst the creative workforce. Increase market opportunities for the creative industries within Wolverhampton. Improve the accomodation offer for creative industries in and around Wolverhampton City Centre. Improve the engagement and inclusion of black and ethnic minority creatives. The ultimate objective of the strategy is to increase the critical mass of creative industries in Wolverhampton to enable to enable self sustaining long term growth of the sector.
