| Media employers
meet at college
The local media employers' forum is set
to hold its third meeting in the Black Country today (Tuesday 30 March).
The forum, which was set up in order to bring real world experience to
media training in the Black Country, will be meeting at City of
Wolverhampton College’s Paget Road.
This venture is part of the Centre of Vocational Excellence
(CoVE) for media and creative industries, set up between City
of Wolverhampton College and Sandwell College.
CoVE Co-ordinator Pete Whitehouse said: "It
is vital to work in partnership with employers if we are to help our students
become successful in their chosen careers. This initiative is helping
both colleges to improve their excellent relationships with local media
and creative employers. This, in turn, ensures that both colleges have
the most relevant training for students who wish to carve out a career
in this competitive environment.”
Members of the forum include Roger Brooks, chairman of
Beacon Radio, Jill Ella, BBC new media producer, and
Jeff Jephcott from Stourbridge News.
The Centre of Vocational Excellence forms a Black Country learning hub
with high-quality technical facilities for training in journalism, sound
engineering, music technology, moving image and photography.
In addition it offers industry-standard training in video, radio, music
and television production.
