A Nail Biting Finale Supported by Top Show BIZ Stars

Mylene Klass, Cannon and Ball, Tom O’Connor and international singing legend Andy Williams are just a few of the well-known celebrities supporting ‘Cop Idol 3: The Final Hearing’ – a charity event sponsored by West Midlands Police Recruitment

Four singing police officers whose voices are guaranteed never to miss a beat will join forces with 12 members of the public in the tuneful trial, which takes place on Saturday, 27 March.

The sell-out show will be staged in a mock courtroom at the Tally Ho! Sports and Conference Centre in Birmingham, where each competitor will stand in a dock ‘accused’ of being able to sing.

The wannabe stars will face the gruelling test of impressing judges from the music industry who will speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, but the one who convinces the judge they most deserve to have a criminal record will get the chance to cut a charity single at the Priory Recording Studios in Sutton Coldfield.

Courtroom jesters - radio presenter Les Ross MBE, from Saga FM, and Darren Yates, from West Midlands Police - will attempt to hold the proceedings together, before eliminating the finalists and announcing the verdict.

Judging the finalists will be Reggae chart topper Pato Banton, Alex Taffe from In House Marketing, entertainment agent Leslie Hemmings and the unforgettable Daniel Webster from ITV1's Pop Idol who will start the proceedings with his unique rendition of 'Tainted Love' by Soft Cell.

Former Hear'Say singer Mylene Klass, who recently signed a seven-figure deal with Universal Classical, thinks the event is a great idea and will record an exclusive video message which will be played on two screens during the final.

Comedy duo Cannon and Ball who are celebrating their 40 years in show business said: “We think you guys are doing a great job and it’s about time we had a Cop Idol. Rock on Tommy, or should I say Cop on Bobby. All the best and we hope you raise a lot of money for charity. We hope that maybe next year we get involved because we think it’s a great idea.”

One of Britain’s funniest comedians Tom O’Connor said: “When I began in show business I sang for coppers, its nice now to have coppers singing for us. I am sure they will lock up our emotions, arrest our attention, and bail out what would otherwise be a boring evening. I wish you all good luck and good voice.”

International singing legend Andy Williams has sent a message from his home in America. He said: "I wish all of you good luck, and to the finalist I have a bit of advice: 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' is a winner. Good Luck."

Students working towards an HND in digital media at the City of Wolverhampton College, which recently gained Centre of Vocational Excellence in partnership with Sandwell College, have captured some memorable moments from the auditions on video, which will also be played on the night.

The Crew, a troupe of Coventry cheerleaders who are regulars at many Coventry sporting fixtures, will perform a selection of upbeat dance routines throughout the show.

Show organiser Darren Yates said: “There is already a lot of tension and I have a feeling a few songs will be murdered on the night, but there will be no losers in this competition as everyone will be get the chance to showcase their talent while raising lots of coppers for charity.”

All money raised from the sell-out show will be donated to Building Blocks, the registered West Midlands Police charitable trust fund.

The Trust seeks to encourage partnership working with a focus on young people who are at risk of offending. Building Blocks has already funded a number of projects, which tackle the issues of drug and alcohol abuse as well as providing diversity tactics.
