National Diploma In Media (Moving Image)
This course is designed for young people who wish to work in broadcasting, film/video production or other aspects of the moving image industry. It is also an excellent foundation for entry into Higher Education.

The City of Wolverhampton College has been granted the Media CoVE (Centre of Vocational Excellence) status for the Creative Industries and offers its students professional production equipment and excellent teaching. Students will develop the skills needed for a wide range of media careers

Entry Requirements:
To be eligible for this course, you should be at least 16 years of age and possess four GCSEs at grade A-C (English Language is essential) or an equivalent qualification.

All applicants need to be able to demonstrate an active interest in digital video production and have the necessary study skills, i.e. to be able to manage time effectively and work towards a given deadline.

By meeting these prerequisites you can show that you will be able to cope with and benefit from the course.

Course Content:
BTEC ND in Media (Moving Image) is a hands-on course in digital video production. There are 18 modules during the two year course which makes it a very intensive course that requires students’ full commitment.

Year 1 is dedicated to gaining an understanding of pre-production, production and post-production techniques.

Year 2 is centred on the Final Major Project – the culmination of two years of video production training. In addition to that in year 2 the students undertake their work experiences which they researched and organised in Year 1.

Assessment:
You will work on assignments and practical exercises which will take the form of simulated work situations and which will develop and test your ability to solve problems on your own and also by working in a team. A period of work experience is also included.

There may also be some external examinations set and marked by Edexcel.

Progression/Next Step:
Your BTEC National Diploma in Media (Moving Image) will help you to pursue a career in the moving image industry or you may wish to progress to a degree course in Media or Communication Studies.

Many of our past students have successfully progressed to Universities such as Nottingham and Trent, UCE, Sunderland, Blackpool and Southampton
